Crisis Chronicles Press Out and About

We may not have published a new title in two years, but we've remained busy behind the scenes with a couple of highly anticipated and long-awaited projects still in the works (more on those later). But Crisis Chronicles Press is delighted to be coming out of the closet, literally, to take part in three wonderful book fairs this fall and we'd love to see you at all of them.

September 19-20: The Writers Association of Northern Appalachia (WANA) Annual Conference at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in Wheeling, West Virginia.

September 27: The annual Western Maryland Independent Literature Festival, hosted by the Frostburg State University Center for Literary Arts at City Place and other venues in Frostburg, Maryland. (I'll be reading there as well.)

October 17-19: The annual Fall Literary Festival hosted by Lit Youngstown in Youngstown, Ohio.

Important Announcement from Crisis Chronicles Press

Crisis Chronicles Press has made the difficult decision to cease considering new manuscripts and publishing new titles through at least 2024 2025. Please forgive us for failing to make the time to respond to any unsolicited queries or submissions during this time, no matter how much we love your work.

 

As Crisis Chronicles' founding editor and publisher, I have been fortunate to work with excellent poets from around the world for the past fifteen and a half years. I plan to keep most of our in-print titles available indefinitely and to continue getting them into the hands of new readers. But now that I am mostly caught up with my publishing commitments, I want and need to redirect much of my energies and focus away from publishing to other priorities.

 

I say "mostly" because there are still two authors I revere for whom I promised years ago to publish collections, though I have so far been unable to obtain all of the desired poems for these projects. I hope to fulfill these promises if and when I can. Also, I would like to eventually publish a volume two of Cheap and Easy Magazine and a volume three of Oct Tongue. But neither of those is likely to happen in 2024.

 

Please accept my deepest gratitude for your all interest and support over the years.

Endgame?

As we approach our 7th anniversary of publishing great independent literature, Crisis Chronicles Press is super duper grateful to our authors, to everyone who's bought and read a book, and to all who've stood behind us since we started this on 7 July 2008. We especially thank the following folk, whose support has gone above and beyond and without whom we wouldn't have been able to make it this far: (in alphabetical order) Chandra Alderman, Dianne Borsenik, Christina Brooks, Chansonette Buck, Geri Lynne Burroughs, Shelley Chernin, Frederick T. Courtright, Nancy Jill Franklin, Alex Gildzen, Virginia Hanna, Meribeth Hutto, Alan Kleiman, Jim Lang, William Merricle, Helen Shepard, Steven B. Smith, D.R. Wagner and Dawn Ward. Though all things are subject to change, in the coming 13 months, we plan to publish 30 more great books, then (unless we can find a way to make this more sustainable without sacrificing our principles) go on what might be a permanent hiatus from bookmaking around our 8th anniversary (7 July 2016). Thanks for staying in the car with us throughout this thrilling (and sometimes bumpy) journey. And I hope you enjoy the rest of the ride, wherever it goes.

[UPDATE, 21 January 2017:] We're still kicking, though I'm still behind due to my virtually living at doctors' offices and the hospital during my wife's more-than-two-year liver disease struggle. She nearly died more than once. But I am pleased and grateful to report that she has recently gotten a liver transplant and is gradually recovering. A new blog entry with a further update on the current state (and future) of the press is forthcoming.

[UPDATE 7 June 2017:]  Alas, my wife passed away most unexpectedly in February. I'll catch up with the press as I can and then decide where to go from there. Thank you for your patience and kind support.]
